Marissa Cashmore has worked in education for over 16 years, beginning in early childhood and expanding to primary. Based in Melbourne, Victoria, she specialises in primary maths education opening up her own small consulting business in 2019. Marissa values the use of rich, authentic mathematical tasks to teach fluency, problem solving, reasoning and understanding, where explicit teaching is embedded.
Marissa has worked with the Mathematical Association of Victoria and presented at their annual conference several times. She has built strong connections and networks with many respected maths educators.
Implementing researched based, best teaching practices to support teachers to improve their teaching and learning is the key to improving student learning. Marissa has a passion for supporting teachers through modelling, observations, team teaching, reflection and professional development.
She is interested in building bridges between primary and high school maths teaching and learning.
Marissa believes in motivating all learners to take risks to succeed.
