📐✨ Community Maths Play – Belgrave Library ✨📐
Come along to Belgrave Library for a free, playful afternoon of maths where children, families, and educators can explore, create, and ponder.
This hands-on session will run from 3:30–4:30pm and will be full of games, puzzles, maths art, and intriguing challenges designed to spark curiosity, laughter, and great conversations. Tinker, notice patterns, solve problems, and enjoy maths in a relaxed and welcoming space.
It’s also a chance to connect with others — parents chatting with parents, teachers sharing ideas, and children learning alongside adults. Whether you love maths, want to build connections or simply enjoy a good puzzle, you’ll find something to jump into and someone to explore it with.
Drop in for a few minutes or stay the whole hour, and discover how fun, creative, and joyful maths can be.

Marissa Cashmore has worked in education for almost 20 years, beginning in early childhood and expanding to primary. Based in Melbourne, Victoria, she specialises in primary maths education opening up her own small consulting business in 2019. Marissa values the use of rich, authentic mathematical tasks to teach fluency, problem solving, reasoning and understanding, where explicit teaching is embedded.
Marissa has worked with the Mathematical Association of Victoria and presented at their annual conference several times. She has built strong connections and networks with many respected maths educators.
Implementing researched based, best teaching practices to support teachers to improve their teaching and learning is the key to improving student learning. Marissa has a passion for supporting teachers through modelling, observations, team teaching, reflection and professional development.
She is interested in building bridges between primary and high school maths teaching and learning.
Marissa believes in motivating all learners to take risks to succeed.
